Victor Blom Isildur1

First Caribbean Adventure Super High Roller breakthrough – Isildur1

Victor Blom, alias ‘Isildur1’, has achieved much at the online poker cash tables. His aggressive style has picked the pockets of many of the world’s top poker players. The Swedish gem has, until recently, kept a low profile and nobody really knew the identity behind the mysterious nickname Isildur1. After his contract with PokerStars was signed, the player’s identity was revealed at last year’s PokerStars Carribean Adventure. Blom was unable to produce any outstanding results at the time, but 2012 began for him with great success in tournament poker.

The starting point for Blom was the $100,000 Caribbean Adventure in 2012. The Swede only made the final with a medium stack.

Of all eight finalists, only five received payouts in the end. Scott Seiver was the bubbler, losing to kings Galen Hall (winner of the 2011 RCA Main Event) with pocket jacks.

Daniel Negreanu busted out in fifth place, going all-in after getting busted by Blom’s pocket eights. Of the five total cards, none opened that could have saved KidPoker’s tournament life.

After Negreanu flopped, Blom struck out Jonathan Duhamel and seized the chip lead. On the flop: jack, seven, five – Jonathan advanced all his chips to the middle of the table and Blom took his bet. At this stage the jack, six of the 2010 ME WSOP winner was stronger than Blom’s ace, queen. On the turn, however, a chevron seven managed to close out the Swede’s flush. Nothing else was decided on the river.

Initial chip leader at the final table Galen Hall failed to hold his advantage and, with 25 big blinds remaining, decided to take a risk, but ran into Victor Blom and his pocket aces and then exited the game in third place.

Blom then went into heads-up play with Dan Schuck with a stack advantage of 1.3 million in chips. Shaq fought hard for the title throughout the encounter, but had to give up the title to the Swede. On the final hand, Dan Schuck’s ace, five had good outs against Blom’s king, queen, but a mixed board with a queen on the turn was eventually decided in favour of Isildur1. He was also crowned champion at the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and received a payout of $1,254,400 and a Chambal bracelet worth over $20,000.
